Feeds for People

In designing Wordle, I felt it was important to put up as few barriers as possible in front of the act of saving one's work. Hence: no logins! On the other hand, that means that it's the wild wild West out there for user names. On the other other hand, you may want to say to someone, "Here's my work."

So, you may now click on user names in the gallery, and that will show you wordles created with that user name. The form of the URL is

http://www.wordle.net/gallery?username=Jonathan

and the associated Atom feed is

http://www.wordle.net/gallery/atom?username=Jonathan

Because anyone can adopt any user name when saving, remember to be cautious when representing the URL with your special user name as "My Wordles".

I wonder if I should create logins with official user names. Opinions?

Let User name be somebody with a google account and use User API (http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/users/)

Rarely have I encountered a website that has given me so much joy. I absolutely love Wordle. It's a beautiful thing.

Yes to logins with official user names.

If log-ins mean remembering yet another password, I shall weep. :^)

I think logins are ok, but only if there's some practical reason for them.
i.e., saving private wordles, adding comments to wordles, etc.

Jonathan, First, thanks for Wordle. It is cooler than words could express - unless the words were arranged in a cloud.
Yes to login, preferably via OpenID.
But yes to retaining the way that a new user can create a Wordle, save it, and get a URL for it without having to set up any sort of account.

Yuss pleeeeeease for logins. Wordle is pretty much the best thing I've come across online in a long time. It's not like everyone in the free world is named Bella or anything, but it's fairly common and it would be nice if we could make sure the names we put on our projects are unique to us.

Hi Jonathan,

You have made the Internet fun again

Yes to optional logins as I'd like to be able to rate other people's wordles. One could then rank well-wordled people.

Fortunately, I don't have a common name like Jon Smith ... but I'd still like user names. Google login might be a great option since so many people already use it. I'd also like to be able to comment on other people's Wordle's.

Yes, I'm finding more and more that I'd like to comment on individual Wordles.

I'd also like a meta discussion forum as it's been interesting to see how people have been using it, such as using it as a graphics package to create a promotional image, biblical texts, messages between contributors, most-wordled text, etc..
